Today is a Good Day

 And here is why:
  1. I am not dead like the beautiful fox above - saw her out riding today - poor girl.
  2. I was out riding today
  3. The bleeding has stopped  (earlier post), but I do leave a Preparation H oil slick everywhere I go
  4. I was out riding today
  5. I do not have to work for 6 days - go back on Thursday
  6. There will be riding
  7. I do not have to work for 6 days - go back on Thursday
  8. The Tour de France starts tomorrow
  9. Many days of cycling bliss on the computer
  10. Riding @ 6AM with a buddy tomorrow
  11. Did I mention I am off til Thursday?
That would be my second post in 2 days, something of a recent record.  Everyone, have a wonderful weekend.  And my prediction for the tour?  Really?  You care what I think?  Okay - Cadel wins again.  Honestly, I don't see how the Brit from team Sky, I honestly can't recall dudes name, the one with the mutton chops is the favorite?  Fuck that shit.  In my eyes, cycling is a lot like boxing - you gotta beat the champ to be the champ.  Kick his ass, Cadel.  One over aged, over fed, hemorrhoidal slow guy is pulling for you.

Been...Well...I'll Just Show You

Yup, that's what you think it is .... blood.  I have ass grapes like you would not believe.  It makes riding difficult.  Sucker finally popped but hasn't stopped bleeding for days.  Trust me, it's nasty and so is the picture and so is my chamois.

Best to stay in front of me for a while.

A Bevy of Bettys Bombing Bolinas ... Road

I have come to love Fridays for more than the simple fact that a Friday is the gateway to the weekend. Friday now symbolizes, to me anyway, a nice bike ride.  So ... yesterday I hit up the Bo-Fax, 7 Sisters, Tam, Mill Valley ride to ease into my weekend.   As I crept up Bolinas Road there was this beautiful woman on a bicycle coming down.  First, this is not derogatory.  All women on bikes are beautiful.  We have bike riding in common and anyone who rides is cool by me.  So we all, those of us who ride, start beautiful and /or cool.  One has to earn a fall from grace after that; and many have and will become R2-D-Bags.  But that is neither here nor there.  So, this beautiful woman rounded a turn, then another, and she told 2 friends and so on and so on.  Do you see the symbolism there?  The Seven sisters?  Get it.  I sure hope so.  Whatever it was it meant I should keep riding; and keep riding I did.  Whew.   Seven sisters.  Tam.  Descend.  I felt awful going down but it was still stellar.  Friday afternoons are now my gateway, my pearlys, my precipice of total sweetness.   Rinse repeat.  That is what is happening Father's Day.  I shall rinse repeat and hopefully create a beautiful threshold into the start of the work week, create pleasure where none exists.
It is cool, in every sense of the word, under the Redwood canopy.  I leave you with this thought.

Kings Ridge

Started in Guerneville, wanted a piece of the famed Kings Ridge ride.  Got it.  We cruised at a nice leisurely pace, for me, and man was it a fun ride.  Little fucking kickers ... everywhere and all day long.  And there were these nice little descents peppered in there with the climbing but they were teases, just long enough to about feel a rhythm and then ... BAM ... another little fucking kicker.
And right about when you are at your wits' end ... BAM .. there it is ... Meyers Grade.  Straight fucking down.  And you can see all the way to Hwy 1 ... no cars ... so suffice it to say that I was using the whole fucking road and leaving a little strip of flames on the road behind me.  BAM.  And then to Hwy 1.  Railing fresh pavement turns.  I swear I got wet.  I am not sure but I think top to bottom was about 7 miles.  And then we witnessed the food chain first hand.
The bad ass bald eagle above was hunting this duckling.  Two crows were dive bombing said chicken hawk.    Momma duck was submerging baby duck with every dive bomb attack and finally the little sucker ran out of steam and ... BAM.  Dude was fucking lunch.  The whole ordeal lasted maybe 15 minutes and had I had the wherewithal to video tape that sumbitch I bet National Geographic would be banging down my door with a mother fucking movie check riiiiight ......  NOW!  OH, and even though the picture blows donkey cack, that Bad Ass Bald Eagle was about 70 feet from the road and at eye level.  Saweet.
So we had a fantastic ride.  Climbed 5500 feet.  Descended the same and I was grinning ear to ear ... old school style.  Speaking of old school, check that Fisher out and ...... BAM!

That Would Be Negative, Ghostrider

All the blood work came back negative forwhateverthehell they were testing for.  Back to stage one, my friends.  Oh, well.  So goes life.  There have been a few things I would like to share.  1) I like aluminum wheels better, on the whole, than carbon wheels on the road bike.  I descend better, the ride is a little more plush for my fat ass, and the braking is a whole lot better.  The carbon hoops spin up faster and carry more speed on the straights but those are the only benefits I can see.  And 2) I am sorta hooked on Strava.  I find myself riding harder, farther, faster, taking routes I like less just to master them all because I can.   And i need to eat more key lime pie.  Key lime pie tastes good.
